Government has allocated ‘huge funds’ for Western route of CPEC: Ahsan Iqbal

Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that the government has allocated a huge amount of funds for the completion of the Western route of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

In a statement, he said that up to Rs 22 billion have been allocated for the Burhan-Hakla route.

He said that the 285-kilometer motorway project to connect Dera Ismail Khan to Hakla area will be completed in two years at a cost of over Rs 129 billion.

He said that five billion rupees have been allocated for the Gwadar-Turbat-Hoshab section and four billion rupees for the Hoshab-Nag-Basima-Surba section of the western route of CPEC.

He said that work on the western route is in full swing and that the Gwadar-Surab Section will be completed by December 2016 while D.I.Khan section will be completed by July 2018.

The minister said that the government is determined to complete the western route on priority basis by providing all the required funds for it.
