Three suspected militants affiliated with al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) were arrested on Saturday from Nazimabad No1 area of Karachi.
According to details, on a tip-off regarding the presence of militants in the area, Rizvia Society Police conducted a joint targeted operation with an intelligence agency and arrested three suspected AQIS militants identified as Abdul Sami, Muhammad Mazharul Islam and Muhammad Sohail Akhtar.
A Kalashnikov rifle, hand grenade, pistol and other explosive material were also recovered from their possession. Police is conducting further investigation.
In a separate operations conducted by Pakistan Rangers Sindh, the paramilitary force rounded up eight suspected criminals associated with political parties.
The raids were conducted in Gulistan-e-Johar, Malir Town, Manghopir, Shah Faisal Colony, Quaidabad, Nazimabad and Defence Housing Authority, said a statement issued by the Sindh Rangers.
A huge cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the criminals’ possession including three small machine guns, the statement added.
