The Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) Wana-chapter leadership threatened to stage a sit-in in front of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor House in Peshawar if the political agent (PA) of South Waziristan Agency (SWA) is not transferred forthwith.

The differences between Ghalib Khan, a Member National Assembly of the ruling party from SWA, and Zafarul Islam, a PA of SWA, took to new height when MNA submitted a privilege motion in the National Assembly Secretariat against the political agent for what he alleged his “irresponsible attitude towards the public representatives”.

The MNA stated that PA Zafarul Islam has no respect for the elected representatives and is treating the locals as aliens.

The PML-N Wana-chapter’s meeting was presided over by general secretary Zawil Khan and attended by a large number of party officials. They pointed out that they had taken up this issue with the high-ups of the party a number of times but to no good.

Therefore, they decided that a few days time would be given to the government to get him transferred otherwise they would be left with no option but to stage a protest sit-in in front of the governor house in Peshawar.

They were of the view that they Zafarul Islam has little interest in the development of the troubled-hit area, adding that he is taking more interest in minting money.

Zawil said that the PA obstructed the development projects in Wana sub-division and sabotaged the hard-earned peace in the area through a well planned conspiracy.

He said that the PA unnecessarily harassed the people of Wazir, Dotani and Slaimankhel tribe which is condemnable.

Therefore, it is decided that the Zafarul Islam and Wana Political Naib Tehsildar Amir Nawaz should immediately be transferred, he said.

PML-N MNA Galib also threatened to resign if the political agent was not transferred.

The PA is the main hurdle in the way of uplift projects in SWA because he created misperception about the security situation in NA-41 constituency, he said.

He said that the “Jagga Tax” received by the political administration at four check posts set up at various places in SWA should be stopped immediately.
