The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has suspended the supply of water in three densely populated union councils (UCs). The residents of these areas roam from door-to-door carrying water cans, empty buckets and utensils in search of water.

The owners of water tankers are charging exorbitant rates, all the while making the life of the people miserable. Some residents talking to Pakistan Today alleged that some staff members of WASA are also involved in the sale of water.

The localities of UC-23 Dhok Paracha, UC-24 Dhok Ali Akbar, UC-25 Sadiqabad, Service Road and their surrounding areas are the most water deficit. According to the residents of these areas, people are deprived of the required water supply even during the month of Ramzan. People strive hard to obtain even a small amount water to fulfil their needs.

The issue of water shortage is a chronic problem in these areas. The residents have appealed to the commissioner, DCO and WASA MD Raja Shaukat to take a strong notice of the dreadful conditions and order the sinking of tube wells to overcome the shortage of water.
