Local traders have strongly protested against the illegal construction of a commercial plaza in Farooqia Market in Islamabad.
The plaza was being constructed in violation of CDA’s building bye-laws. They said that change of building direction is now allowed in any class-III shopping centre, but the direction of said plaza was changed in connivance with CDA’s building control section staff. They said the map of the plaza showed verandas but actually, the plaza was being constructed without any veranda. The building of the plaza was built above eight feet from the ground which was totally illegal.
Addressing the traders, Anjuman-e-Tajran President Ajmal Baloch said that corruption is on the rise in CDA, due to which many illegal constructions were being undertaken in the federal capital. He said the officials of building control section of CDA were directly involved in illegal constructions, as they were getting bribes for allowing such constructions. He appealed to the chairman, member admin and CDA Member Planning Waseem Ahmed Khan to investigate the illegal construction of said plaza through FIA and order for immediate stoppage of its construction work. He said if no action was taken in this matter, traders would launch a strong protest movement against the illegal construction of said plaza.
