At least 582 weapon licenses have been issued to educational departments and religious places under the Security Act in Rawalpindi district.
According to district administration, a complete ban has been imposed on the issuance of arms licenses to the common citizens on the order of the CM.
According to reports, DCO Talat Gondal is issuing licenses for 30 bore, 9 MM, 12 bore weapons only for government and private schools, colleges, universities, madrasahs and Imambargahs.
It is worth mentioning that the government decided to enhance the security of educational institutions in Punjab after the terrorist attack at Army Public School, Peshawar. The educational institutions were directed to appoint security guards and also fence the boundary walls for the security of the students.
