Robbers loot cash, valuables from moving car

Police are yet to arrest the armed robbers who deprived a man of his valuables and cash on Wednesday.

Shahbaz Rasheed, a herbal doctor by profession, who is a resident of Canal View Society, was going to Railway Academy Walton Road when two armed men riding a motorcycle intercepted his car at Defence Walton Morr, Lahore Cantonment.

They snatched his mobile phone and other valuables besides looting Rs200,000 on gunpoint and fled instantly.

Following the incident that occurred around 8:30pm on Tuesday, Rasheed registered an FIR with Defence-A Police Station.

Police stated that they have launched the investigation into the street robbery, assuring the affectee that the robbers will be arrested soon.

This year, the city police introduced a high-powered street crime combating Dolphin Force which has been assigned all the major areas of Lahore.

Besides the Force, police mobile vans and even Military Police (MP) keep on patrolling in the area of Cantonment which houses several posh localities like DHA and Cavalry Ground.

However, the incident exposes the poor performance of City police that is unable to provide protection to the lives and property of citizens.

Only a couple of days ago, four officials of newly-inducted Dolphin Force were dismissed after they let go a drug peddler against Rs90,000 bribe.

It is high time that the high-ups in Police department take notice of the rising street crimes in the capital city of Punjab, and issue orders to intensify the patrolling in the town – especially Cantonment.
