Rangers hand over Morai to police in corruption, murder cases

Rangers handed over former chairman of Fishermen Cooperative Society (FCS) Dr Nisar Morai to police on Thursday after completion of 90-day remand granted by an anti-terrorism court.

According to police sources, Rangers officials handed over Nisar Morai to Defence police. Nisar Morai is facing charges of involvement in murder case of former chairman Steel Mills, Sajjad Shah, who was killed in Defence area of Karachi in 1998.

The ATC had granted 90-day remand of Nisar Morai to Rangers on March 16 this year for corruption and other charges against him. Morai also faces charges of arms smuggling. He has disclosed the names of some important persons during the questioning, investigation sources said. Earlier, Morai had confessed to smuggling currency through boats on the behest of political figures. The suspect is also said to be involved in multiple incidents of target killing and terrorism.
