The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday staged a protest demonstration in front of election commission’s provincial office against postponement of elections for Karachi mayor and deputy mayor by the government.

The protestors, carrying placards and banners, raised slogans against the election commission and their concerned authorities. The MQM’s nominated Karachi mayor, deputy mayor, district’s chairmen, vice chairmen and other activists were also present on the occasion.

The Karachi nominated mayor, Waseem Akhtar, announced that the matter will be challenged in the court. The election commission did not want implement the local government system, he alleged.
