An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday handed over accused Anees, allegedly involved in burning to death his sister Zeenat Rafiq, to police on a seven-day physical remand.

Earlier, the Factory Area police produced Anees before ATC-IV Judge Chaudhry Muhammad Ilyas in strict security.

The police stated that the accused was involved in burning to death Zeenat, 18, for marrying against wishes of the family. The police asked the court to grant 14-day physical remand of the accused for investigation.

However, the court granted seven-day physical remand and ordered for production of the accused on expiry of the remand period.

Zeenat Rafiq, a resident of Main Chungi Bazaar, was burnt alive by her mother, brother and brother-in-law.

Police registered a case against three people on the complaint of Zeenat’s husband Hassan Khan.

Zeenat’s mother Parveen Bibi and her son-in-law Zafar are already in police custody.
