As many as two robbers were gunned down in police encounter in Sohrab Goth area on Wednesday. At least four target killers and two terrorists among 20 suspects were also arrested in the operation conducted by Rangers in different areas of the city.
According to details, two robbers were wounded in the exchange of fire with the law enforcement agencies in the jurisdiction of Sohrab Goth Police Station. However, the suspects succumbed to their wounds on their way to hospital.
Police said the suspects were street criminals and weapons, seven stolen mobile phones, cash and a motorcycle without number plate were recovered from them. Police arrested two suspects identified as Abdul Hafeez and Talha from Pak Colony area following an encounter and recovered weapons from their possession.
Moreover, the law enforcement agencies rounded up 20 suspected criminals including four target killers during a search operation in different areas of the city. The raid was carried out after a police officer was wounded in firing by unknown persons.
A spokesman for Rangers said that the raids were conducted in Kharadar, Korangi area, Baldia and Ranchora Line. He said the target killers belonged to a political party. The spokesman said that three extortionists and two terrorists were also arrested in the raids.
He said a small machine gun, four pistols, hundreds of rounds of live bullets and receipts of Fitra were also recovered from the accused.
Police said no weapon was found from the arrested persons, however, further investigations was under process.
On the other hand, Ittehad Town Police seized a vehicle smuggling 620 litres of Iranian diesel. A suspect, Mukarram Khan, was arrested with the vehicle carrying the smuggled fuel.
