The Sindh High Court (SHC) Tuesday adjourned the hearing of a case pertaining to model Ayan Ali’s name in the Exit Control List (ECL) after the interior secretary sought two days time.
The SHC division bench was hearing the plea filed by Ayyan Ali submitting that the SHC had directed the government to remove her name from the ECL and it also allowed the government a seven-day time to approach the apex court to challenge its order but now the given time period has elapsed.
During Tuesday’s hearing, the secretary interior appeared on the court’s directives. He stated that the SHC’s order, which allowed the super model to go abroad by directing the interior ministry to remove her name from the ECL, had been challenged in the Supreme Court. “The apex court is likely to take up the case in coming few days. Please adjourn the hearing till then,” he requested.
Ayyan’s counsel was of the view that her client was facing huge financial loss as she was restrained to travel abroad for her professional assignments. The court adjourned the hearing till Wednesday (today).
Earlier on 10th June, the SHC had expressed displeasure over the interior secretary for not appearing before it. The court had ordered him to appear on Tuesday otherwise his arrest warrant were to be issued.
Earlier on second June, the SHC had once again directed the authorities concerned to remove Ayyan Ali’s name from the ECL. The federal government has approached the apex court once again challenging the SHC’s order.
