Gridlock in Malir

A symbol of bad governance, the Malir-15 Flyover and Malir Road continue to cause problems for the thousands of people who travel through the route daily. However, after the arrival of Holy Ramadan, the severity of the traffic situation is now touching the limits. This is the time of the year when people want to get home soonest to be with their families at Iftar time.

Since early morning till late evening, the route is completely congested with both light and heavy traffic and it takes very long to pass through the flyover and the road, which is a matter of some minutes otherwise.

The traffic jam mostly affects those workers who have to get to Bin Qasim Industrial Area, Export Processing Zone, Landhi Industrial Area and Pakistan Steel Mills.

Owing to the pathetic road conditions and collapsed infrastructure, which shows no signs of improvement in the near future, the entire Malir area has simply become a nightmare.

I ask the concerned authorities to show some mercy to the people and complete the road works during Ramadan and before the monsoons.
