Govt working diligently to ensure rehabilitation of IDPs: president

President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the government is working diligently to ensure early repatriation and rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and no stone will be left unturned in providing educational, health and other development facilities to the tribal people.

The president said this in a meeting with Member National Assembly and Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Professional and Technical Training Muhammad Nazir Khan who called on him along with a delegation from his constituency in North Waziristan Agency at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday.

President Hussain said that North Waziristan, including Shawal Valley, has been completely cleared of the miscreants and peace has been restored due to sustained operations of the army.

The president expressed his satisfaction at the pace of return of the displaced persons to their homes and assured that the government, in consultation with the local representatives, will carry out development work for the uplift of the people and restoration of economic and commercial activities.

He appreciated the army for undertaking a lot of work for infrastructure development and construction of health and educational institutions for the benefit of public.

The president said that Federally Administered Tribal Areas Secretariat will be directed to expedite work on development and welfare projects in consultation with the local representatives.

He also paid tribute to the people of tribal areas for rendering immense sacrifices during the war against terrorism and said that the entire nation values their contribution in restoration of peace in the region.
