Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that benefits of Ramazan package of billions of rupees should reach the people at any cost and that elected representatives, administration and price control committees will have to play an active role in this regard.
Issuing instructions for the provision of essential items including fruits and vegetables on reasonable rates in open market and bazaars, Shehbaz Sharif said that abundant supply of quality edible items should be ensured in open market and a crackdown should be launched against profiteers. He said that effective steps should be taken for stabilising prices of daily use items in open market and bazaars.
The chief minister ordered indiscriminate action against those involved in overcharging and said that those looting the citizens in the name of profit deserve no leniency. He said that hoarders and profiteers will not be allowed to exploit the masses and that people will not be left at the mercy of such elements.
The chief minister said that price control committees should continue to play an active role in stabilising the prices of edible items.
