Celebrities react to Orlando shooting

Tragedy strikes again as fifty people have died, 53 injured on Sunday when a heavily-armed gunman opened fire and seized hostages at a gay nightclub in Orlando, in what is being called the worst mass shooting in US history.

Celebrities have taken to social media to not only mourn the death of so many innocent lives, but also to question gun laws in the US, and to stand up for the LGBTQ community.

Ellen DeGeneres had only one word to sum up her feelings as she tweets ‘Sobbing’. Leonardo the Oscar winner also tweets, ‘Shocked by the senseless tragedy in Orlando. We must stand together against hate and intolerance.’

Not only that, JK Rowling dedicated a tweet to one of the victims, ‘Luis Vielma worked on the Harry Potter ride at Universal. He was 22 years old. I can’t stop crying. #Orlando.’ Justin Timberlake also tweets, ‘What gives? My heart is breaking right now for the victims and families of this heartless act. I just don’t get it.#PrayForOrlando’

Bollywood actors also expressed their grief as Priyanka Chopra tweets, ‘Heartbreaking to hear about the #OrlandoShooting May peace come upon this earth. Prayers for the victims and their families.#prayerforlove.’

Furthermore, Sidharth Malhotra expressed his sadness on Twitter. ‘So Sad to hear about the massacre in #Orlando here My prayers n condolences to the families who lost their loved ones,stop this#violence’

And so did Alia Bhatt, ‘Heartbreaking to hear about the #OrlandoNightclubShooting!!! Can just imagine what the families and people are going through. Shocked!!’
