Police torture tea vendor to death in Faisalabad

A tea vendor was allegedly tortured to death by police in Faisalabad’s Gulberg area after he refused to serve tea free of cost on Saturday evening.

According to victim Fayyaz’s brother, some police personnel of Gulberg police station often used to take tea free of cost.

The policemen threatened tea vendor for dire consequences after paying the tea bill. They severely tortured Fayyaz when he was returning home after shutting down his business.

Meanwhile, Station House officer (SHO) Gulberg police station Shahid Waheed rejected police torture claims, saying Fayyaz was a drug addict. The area people tortured him when he entered a house after consuming drugs, the police officer claimed.

He succumbed to injuries while being shifted to hospital.

City Police Officer Faisalabad Afzaal Kosar has taken notice of the incident and ordered the inquiry.
