Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned the insulting and immoral behavior of Hafiz Hamdullah towards prominent political commentator and rights activist Marvi Sirmed in a live TV show and asked his sponsors to keep such characters indoors before they spread their degradation throughout the society.

In a press statement, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari praised Marvi Sirmed for bravely facing the situation and her defiance against the so-called religious scholars who didn’t learn how to behave and respect mothers and daughters of the nation.

The PPP chairman said that this man should not go scot-free and even the religious scholars and Ulema should stand up because Hafiz Hamdullah’s behavior has been equally insulting and disgraceful for them and the entire nation. Bilawal expressed solidarity with Marvi Sirmed and announced that his Party will take up the issue in the parliament and on other forums.

Columnist and rights activist Marvi Sirmed on Friday claimed that Senator Hafiz Hamdullah of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl had abused and almost hit her during a TV talk show. However, Hamdullah denied Sirmed’s allegations.
