Two youths drown in open tank

As many as two young men drowned in an open drain in the Saadi Town area of the city.

Rescue workers say that 18-year-old Shiraz fell into the tank three days ago and drowned. His cousin Wahab jumped to save him but he ended up drowning as well. The search for their bodies continued even on the third day.

While speaking to media, Shiraz’s father, Qadir Bakhsh, said that the water board had refused to stop the water flow from the back end and said that the bodies would rise up to the surface in a day or two.

Qadir Bakhsh vowed to protest near the Karachi Toll Plaza if the rescue work did not finish till Saturday. Last month, a seven-year-old boy fell into a manhole in Karachi’s Mawach Goth area. Rescue workers did a week long search for the body but were unable to recover it.
