Moderate quake jolts Shangla, surroundings

A moderate earthquake jolted district Shangla of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and surroundings on Saturday.

According to the geological wing of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), an earthquake measuring five on the Richter scale was felt in Shangla and surrounding areas.

People of the areas rushed out of their homes in panic reciting prayers and stayed outside for a long while fearing aftershocks. Luckily no casualty or property loss was reported

The epicentre of the quake was stated to be located at Afghanistan-Tajikistan border, 111 kilometres deep inside earth’s crust.
