Some things land on your doormat and cause you a great joy: birthday cards, cheques from long-lost relatives and your favourite magazine subscription.

But sometimes you get a little raincloud of doom through the letterbox usually in the form of bills and parking fines.

When such things happen to Comedian Joe Lycett, he tries to inject a little bit of fun into how he deals with the problem… and his latest attempt is great.

He was issued a parking fine by Leeds Parking Services and took a cheeky approach to paying it off.

Rather than chucking a few tenners in an envelope, Joe decided to fill a box with 20p coins and wrote out a short note to accompany it.Comedian tries paying off his driving fine with change, football stickers1

The letter read: “Dear Leeds Parking Service, Please find enclosed £30 payment for my recent violation of a bus lane (PCN LS82873274).”

And to win them over a bit more, he also sent them a little gift with a note reading, “Please also find a Euro 2016 sticker for Portuguese player Bernardo Silva.

All my love, Joe Lycett x”

He’s nothing if not polite. Hopefully, his kindness paid off and they waived his bus lane fine.

Joe shared pictures of the note and box of change on Twitter, where they were shared over 800 times. He tweeted with the caption, “Got myself another fine didn’t I”
