Inquiry report on Zeenat’s honour killing was presented to Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday.
Zeenat, who married the man of her choice 10 days ago, was brought back to home and was told there will be a wedding party but the girl was set on fire a day ahead of the date set for the wedding.
The enquiry commission constituted by Commandant Punjab Constabulary Abu Baqar Khuda Bux on directions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif recorded the statements of key accused Parveen (mother of Zeenat), her brother Zafar and the defendant lawyer.
Key accused Parveen Bibi admitted strangulating Zeenat Bibi and setting her on fire. Facilitator Zafar is also in custody while another accused Anees (brother of Zeenat) was still at large and police was making efforts to arrest him.
