Balochistan Young Doctors Association (YDA) and All Pakistan Paramedics Federation (APPF) have announced to end their strike after reaching a consensus with the provincial government to accept their legitimate demands.
Provincial Health Minister Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch reached the camp of protesting doctors and paramedics set up outside the Quetta Press Club and told them that the provincial government had accepted their legitimate demands.
“Balochistan chief minister has issued a directive to fulfill all the legitimate demands of the young doctors and paramedics,” he said.
He said that the incumbent coalition government of Balochistan pays special heed towards health department, adding that some remarkable improvements have been made in this sector to provide facilities to doctors, paramedics and patients. He said the government wants to see young doctors and paramedics to be present at their workplace to serve the patients. He assured them to fulfill all their legitimate demands.
Balochistan YDA President Dr Hafiz Mandokhel and APPF President Fazl Kakar announced to end their strike which was underway for over two and half months.
They said, “We announce ending our strike and sit-in staged to pressurise government for accepting our demands regarding the provision of service structure, special health allowance, risk allowance, necessary machinery and medicines at the hospitals.”
They said that young doctors and paramedics would now provide their services at out-patient department, emergency and wards. They said that after ending the strike and sit-in, the absence of doctors and paramedics from workplace would not be supported.
