A video has surfaced on social media showing Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif taking dip in Sialkot canal in violation of the Section 144 imposed by the district government.
After attending an open ‘open court’, the minister along with his friends including MPA Manshaullah Butt, former deputy mayor Babar Khan, expected chairman of municipal corporation Chaudhry Tauheed Akhtar and others arrived at Motra Canal and had a dip in the canal.
The video went viral on the social media, gaining masses attention.
The Section 144 bars locals from entering rivers and canals but Khawaja Asif jumped into the canal.
Motra Police Station House Officer (SHO) Rai Safdar Hussain stated that citizens are strictly prohibited from swimming in the canals.
“Action could not be taken on that day because it was my off-day on Sunday,” he asserted.
