Former managing director of Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) Tahir Basharat Cheema under National Accountability Bureau (NAB) custody was rushed to Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) after suffering a heart problem on Thursday.
Cheema was arrested by the NAB last month over misuse of his powers.
At the moment, the ex-MD PEPCO is being treated at intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.
Investigation officer last month had maintained during the case hearing that the ex-MD resorted to graft and illegally recruited nearly 500 employees. He said that Cheema gave different contracts to private companies and earned millions of rupees through unlawful means.
Cheema’s arrest is the biggest apprehension made by the accountability bureau in Punjab in the recent past.
