An Accountability Court (AC) in Islamabad extended the physical remand of Foreign Office Director Shafqat Cheema till June 13 in cases of human trafficking and accumulated assets beyond known sources of income.

The case was heard in an accountability court on Thursday regarding human trafficking and having assets of more income. During the hearing, the National Accountability Bureau requested to further extend the Foreign Office director’s physical remand whereas an investigative report was also submitted in the court by NAB.

The defence lawyer said that Cheema has been suffering from heart disease, thus physical remand plea should be rejected and he should be transferred to Jail hospital.

However, the court rejected the plea of Cheema’s lawyer for sending the accused in Jail on judicial remand and extended the remand till June 13.
