Met department forecasts heatwave during next 12 hours

The Pakistan Meteorological Department Wednesday (today) predicted that mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country during the next 12 hours.

According to Met department, hot weather conditions are likely to continue over plain areas of Punjab, central and southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Sindh, Sibi, Makran divisions, Islamabad and Rawalpindi in the next two to three days with the temperature remaining between 48-50°C.

However, dust-thunderstorm and light rain are expected in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Hazara divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir today.

In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the temperature rose to 33°C in the morning and is likely to reach 42°C.

Heat intensity in Lahore will decrease further to 43°C whereas the minimum temperature will be 29°C.

However, the temperature can again rise up to 45°C on Friday.

Likewise, weather in Karachi will also remain hot in the next 24 hours.

The maximum temperature in Karachi is expected to be 35-37°C, Jacobabad 48-50°C, Dadu, Larkana, Sukkur and Benazirabad 47-49°C, Hyderabad 43-45°C, Mirpur Khas 42-44°C and Badin 39-41°C.

Temperature of some major cities recorded on Wednesday morning:

Islamabad 33°C, Lahore 31°C, Karachi 29°C, Peshawar 27°C, Quetta 12°C, Gilgit 15°C, Murree 19°C and Muzaffarabad 20°C.
