City District Government Lahore (CDGL), during its drive against overcharging and hoarding on Ramzan, challaned 30 shopkeepers and imposed fine worth Rs 33,000 on violators of price act, on Tuesday.
CDGL Special Price Control Magistrates conducted raids on 1045 shops in various areas of the city including Ramzan Bazaars and open market and inspected price of commodities at local level.
As many as 138 people were arrested, out of which 56 were sent to prison for three days after summary trial on the spot. CDGL also lodged 71 FIRs against the violators of price law in various police stations.
DCO Capt (r) Muhammad Usman issued directions to the town administrators to continue crackdown against profiteering to provide relief to the masses.
Rs 33000 fine is not tip of an iceberg – the loot they have.
