Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that Pakistan’s desire for friendship and peace should not be taken as a sign of weakness.
While briefing a Senate session, he said that the government was making all arrangements for the defence of the country and was not negligent of its duties. He said that the country was capable of giving a befitting reply by an aggression from across the border.
Aziz said that Pakistan was making all diplomatic efforts to seek membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG). He said that they have informed leaders around the world about the intentions of India and have raised concern about its interventions in the country.
Both Pakistan and India which are non-signatories of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) have applied for membership to NSG which is due to convene its meeting from 9-10th June in Vienna, Austria.
Aziz also said that recent missile tests by India were a made of grave concern for Pakistan. He said that India was attempting to create a nuclear race in the India Ocean. He has previously said Pakistan was not desperate for peace talks with India and there were never presented with an opportunity.
