Punjab Governor Malik Rafiq Rajwana has summoned Punjab Assembly’s budget session on Monday (June 13).
Provincial Finance Minister Ayesha Ghaus Pasha will present the provincial budget of Rs 1,650 billion.
According to sources, more than Rs 550 billion has been allocated for development projects, a total of Rs 9 billion for the repairs of dangerous school buildings. Rs 13.49 billion would be allocated for higher education and Rs 0.9 billion for special education. For school education, Rs 22.62 billion have been earmarked.
Sources further revealed that an amount of Rs 14.85 billion has been allocated for water supply and sanitation, and a proposed Rs 0.61 billion for social welfare has also been included in the budget.
Rs 79.81 billion have been reserved for development of roads whereas 0.57 billion have been allocated for women development. For energy projects, Rs 18.4 billion and for projects that are being run on foreign investment, Rs 30 billion have been allocated.
Sources further informed that Rs 6 billion each has been set aside for the laptop scheme, and for the provision of facilities at schools. For industries, Rs 3.83 billion have been allocated.
