  • Says citizens will not have to visit NADRA offices for re-verification of CNICs
  • Says no one can sabotage the CPEC project

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Monday said that RAW agent Kulbushan Jadhav will not be granted consular access, as he entered the country as an enemy and not by mistake.

He was speaking to media after inaugurating the Islamabad’s Safe City project on Monday.

Nisar said that Jadhav entered the Pakistani territory for some “special objectives”.

Jadhav was arrested from Balochistan in March by security forces. He later confessed to being an Indian agent sent to Pakistan in order to destabilise the region and hinder the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

Speaking about the re-verification of computerised national identity cards (CNICs), he said that citizens will not be required to visit NADRA offices or to wait in long queues. “We do not want to create problems for the public,” he said and added that the re-verification will be completed without any hassle. He said that those who own a fake CNIC will be dealt with strictly.

To a question, he said that NADRA has blocked more than 250,000 CNICs.

“We have also blocked 2,900 fake passports. The verification process will be completed in six months,” he added.

CPEC FOREVER:

The interior minister said certain groups and countries are out to sabotage the CPEC project . He, however, said no power can undermine this mega project as people of the two countries and their civilian and military leadership are committed to take it forward.

He said the CPEC is no longer a dream but is turning into a reality. He said that both China and Pakistan are longstanding friends and their destinies are intertwined.
