Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday strongly condemned the brutal treatment meted out to protesting nursing professionals in Peshawar by the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP) government.

The PPP chairman demanded immediate release of the arrested nurses and acceptance of their genuine demands without any further delay.

In a press statement, Bilawal said that the nurses are respected all over the world for their services to humanity, but the rulers in KP province broke all records of brutality and exposed its ugly face to the nation as well as to the world.

He further said that the PPP stands by the protesting nurses of Hayatabad Medical Complex and considers police torture and action against them as “shameful”.

“We would not tolerate such ghastly action against nurses or any other segment of society,” he pledged.

The PPP chairman said that instead of holding talks with the protesting nurses, the so-called ‘Naya Pakistan’ government resorted to brutality and torture, which is highly condemnable and lays bare the hollowness and falsehood of their political narrative.

Bilawal expressed solidarity with the Peshawar nurses and asked the KP government to improve their working conditions and accept their legitimate demands before their protest is joined by the general public.
