A US-based Kashmiri group the World Kashmir Awareness on Friday expressed best wishes for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif following a successful open-heart surgery, paying tribute to his leadership in extending firm and consistent support to the cause of Kashmir at the international fora.
“The people of Kashmir are also praying for the speedy recovery of Nawaz who has remained consistent in advocating the cause of Kashmir at all international fora,” Secretary General World Kashmir Awareness Ghulam Nabi Fai said in a statement here.
Fai expressed his prayers and best wishes for the early recovery of Prime Minister Sharif and said that people of Kashmir were also praying for his speedy recovery.
“Prime Minister Sharif, to them, is a symbol of decency, civility and uprightness,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dar-ul-Huda, the oldest Islamic centre in the northern state of Virginia, observed “Yum-e-Tashakkur” over the successful open-heart surgery of the Prime Minister. On Friday, worshipers paid their gratitude to Allah Almighty for the successful operation of the prime minister and offered prayers for his early recovery.
Earlier, prayers were also offered in mosques in the capital Washington and neighbouring states of Maryland and Virginia before the surgery. Prime Minister Sharif is expected to return home before the end of Ramadan.
“Pakistani Americans community in the US were very concerned when they heard about the illness of the prime minister as under his leadership, the country is making robust progress in all fields,” Dr Anjum Khan of George Washington University Hospital said while talking to APP.
This government has been successful in breaking the back of terrorists who had virtually taken the country hostage for past many years, Dr Khan said and added that Pakistani Americans were very proud to tell the people that the menace of terrorism had been dealt with heavy hand and terrorists were on the run.
Dr Shaheer Yousaf of American Pakistan National Alliance said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan was making progress in all fields of economic activities and the performance of the government has been praised by world donors, including International Monetary Fund and World Bank.
He said that it was a matter of great concern for the Pakistani Americans when people with vested interests tried to exploit controversy over Panama papers and to destabilise the country with street protests. The news about the prime minister’s illness greatly added to their anxiety as under him the country has embarked upon a journey of progress and prosperity.
“Allah Almighty has heard our prayers and we are praying for an early recovery of the prime minister so that he can return and resume the course of taking the country out of economic and energy problems and put the economy on the path of robust growth,” Dr Yousaf said.
Directors of a US-based organisation, Pakistani American Congress, also extended their best wishes to the prime minister his early recovery from the operation.
Many world leaders sent their best wishes to the prime minister for the successful surgery and his early recovery.
