Trans-Action to sue Lady Reading Hospital admin

Trans-Action Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has rejected the inquiry committee report on the death of a transgender Alishah in Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and vowed to file a suit for damages in the court against the hospital administration very soon.

While addressing a news conference on Friday, Qamar Nasim, a member of Trans-Action, a non-governmental organisation working for transgenders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said that the 10-page inquiry report, about the death of Alisha has become controversial. He claimed that in the five-member inquiry committee, four members wrote their dissenting note about the report, while only one member, Shaheen Ghani, declared the report correct.

He said that four members of the committee in their note wrote that the LRH administration didn’t fulfil its responsibility in the provision of proper medical treatment to Alisha, who was shot five times in the chest by one Afzal Gujjar in Faqirabad area.

Flanked by representatives of other civil society organisations, Nasim said: “We reject the inquiry committee report and will soon file Rs 50 million damages suit against the LRH administration”. “We have decided to move the court to cancel the licenses of the doctors of LRH responsible for the negligence,” he said, and added that they have taken the services of prominent lawyers Barrister Masood Kauser and Gul Rahman and soon will chalk out a future line of action.

Qamar said that the arrested killer Fazal Gujjar should be awarded capital punishment at all costs.
