Former Federal Minister Lt General (r) Abdul Majeed Malik expired at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on early Saturday morning.

His family members were at his bedside when he died.

He was elected MNA four times from Chakwal and was the federal minister twice.

General Malik served at different key positions in the army including corps commander.

He was a top candidate for the post of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) when the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto picked up General Ziaul Haq for the job, the decision that cost him his life ultimately.
