Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz added some credibility to the rumours stating that she will be her father’s political successor.

Speaking in a private TV channel’s programme the other day,  she said that she was willing to contest 2018 elections if her party, PML (N), considered her worthy.

Maryam said she thinks that the opinions of party elders, senior members and the head of the party matter more. “If they think it would be better that I stay in the background and assist them wherever I can, then that is also acceptable to me” she added.

She further said that she was confident that her father’s government will complete its five years and will form the next government as well.

Dismissing rumours about rifts within the family, she said, “Mine and Hamza’s relationship is just like Nawaz and Shehbaz Sharif’s.”

She also said that Chaudhry Nisar’s political journey had started with Nawaz Sharif.

When asked if there was a threat of an imminent martial law in the country, Maryam replied, “Disruptive elements are present everywhere but the government will complete its tenure.”

  1. She has shown qualities similar to most politicians. For example she can tell lies with full confidence and never blink. Our pathetic reporters who are not journalists never question her on the subject.
