The Islamabad Chapter of Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) has demanded the restoration of 75% rebate in income tax in the upcoming federal budget.
The newly elected leadership of the federation for Islamabad chapter including President Prof Dr Asif Ali, Executive Member Dr Shahzad Ashraf Chaudhary and General Secretary Muhammad Jawad made it clear in a statement that said: “The tax rebate is the only facilitation given to the teaching community of this country in recognition to their services for this nation”.
The leadership of FAPUASA in Islamabad Chapter clarified that the teaching community is serving in grades up to BPS-22, but are not given any of the facilitations that are given to other public servants working in the same grades in District Management, Accounts Management, Federal Secretariat and Law Enforcement.
“FAPUASA leadership is of the view that we were not taken into confidence by the federal government two years ago when it reduced the tax rebate to 40%, otherwise we could have given the just rationale behind this facilitation,” they added.
“Professor Dr Asif Ali as President of Islamabad Chapter has already instructed all the Academic Staff Associations in the public sector universities under the federal charter to display banners in their campuses demanding the restoration of 75% tax rebate,” they said.
I think it's something that teaching community "must have". All our future depends on our youth generation. And teachers coordinate our children. So, I hope the government will take this into account.
