The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday issued a notice to the Secretary Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) in the case regarding commercial use of residential areas and adjourned the hearing of the case till June 28.
The three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, comprising Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Dost Muhammad Khan heard the case and directed the Secretary CADD to inform the court about shifting of private educational institutions from the residential areas.
During the course of proceedings, Advocate Ali Raza counsel for Bridge Factor Company told the court that Capital Development Authority (CDA) adopted discriminatory attitude regarding the shifting of commercial activities from the residential areas.
He said that CDA did not issue a notice to a private cafe Nirvana for shifting of its business from residential areas.
CDA Director Building Shafi Marwat told the court that the civic agency was utilising all resources to stop the commercial activities in residential areas of the capital.
Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that CDA’s performance can be judged at F-9 Park in the evening.
Advocate Shahid Hamid counsel for CDA told the court that all foreign embassies would be shifted in the diplomatic enclave in three months.
