Federal Finance Minister and Senator Ishaq Dar, while presenting the federal budget for 2016-17, announced 10 per cent increase in the salaries of federal government employees and pensioners.
He said that 10pc ad-hoc relief allowance on running basic pay will be allowed to all the federal government employees with effect from July 1.
He said ad-hoc increase of 2013-14 will be merged in the pay scales.
Similarly, he announced 10pc increase in net pension to all pensioners of federal government with effect from July 1. A 25pc raise in net pension to all pensioners of federal government above the age of 85 years will also be in effect from July 1.
The finance minister also increased the minimum salary from Rs 13,000 to Rs 14,000 per month.
The minister also announced to increase withholding tax on the print and electronic media from 1pc to 1.5pc.
He, however, announced that exemption of custom duty and sales tax on the import of the news print would continue.

Present prevailing condition supports and admires the current fed budget.
All province government upgraded their clerks "LDC BPS 11 and UDC BPS 14, whereas federal government upgraded their Clerks LDC BPS 9 and UDC BPS 11 equal to LDC of Province government employee. I do not want to use rude and abusing language but federal government should think about it. Government also kept silence regarding house rent last 6 to 7 years.

basic pay of a grade 17 employee in 1995 was RS 9000. the buying power was closely compatible to inflation,whereas the basic of same group is now over 100000, meaning a provision of defeating the inflation. A pensioner who retired 15 or more years back is bracketed with the serving employee for a relief of 10 percent, which by any standards is not only unfair is grossly criminal and is decided by somebody who is heartless and does not believe in accountability on DAY OF JUDGEMENT.Another salt on the wounds of this written off dirt of the society is that an extra benefit of 25 % [ 10 + 15] is offered to pensioners of age 85 yrs or above. I wish [respected ] budget makers had consulted a competent forum about the average age of a Pakistani and [repent] about this eyewash.Whom do really want to please?

House and medical has not been increased. Special pay of PS/PAs are only nominal and need high increase to encourage them. Upgradation to clerks has been granted thricely but ignored other cadre. Therefore this budget is rejected.
