The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday restrained the concerned authority from issuing development funds for Larknana, Kambar and Shahdadkot as it was alleged that contracts were awarded to favourite people with intention of embezzling the funds.

The SHC bench, headed by Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, was hearing the plea filed by Imtiyaz Ali Brohi against alleged misappropriation in development funds of Rs 850 million allocated for the development through awarding contracts to some favourite persons.

The petitioner submitted that the contracts were awarded for the development in Larknan, Kambar and Shahdadkot with malafide intention ahead of new budget. “The renovations of roads and other development works were to be executed trough these funds but the same are being misappropriated and no improvement in their dilapidated condition has been recorded,” he added.

After hearing the arguments, the court directed the authority concerned not to issue funds any more for this purpose. It also summoned the executive director highways, commissioner and DCO Larkana on the next hearing scheduled for June 9.
