Qureshi demands referendum over govt’s performance

Leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Thursday said that the country’s finance minister was not capable of presenting budget without getting approval from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

While speaking to the Sindh High Court Bar Association in Hyderabad, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the country was in a state where it needed new loans to pay the previous amount.

He said he had talked to Ishaq Dar to form terms of references (TORs) for the inquiry commission and test the capabilities of both PTI Chief Imran Khan and Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif.

The PTI leader also suggested to hold referendum to judge the performance of ruling party in the country. “If the nation shows satisfaction and trust in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) performance, then we will keep quiet,” he added. He also alleged that only one party was not in the support of accountability as it wanted to stay away from investigation.

Shah Mehmood urged every class to stand against corruption and discrimination as it was the only way to eliminate this crime from the society. He also announced that Lahore Bar had ordered the opposition to finalise the TORs in 15 days otherwise lawyers would step into the matter. He further lauded the efforts of the judiciary as it had never compromised on anything.
