Police asked to beef up security in Ramzan

Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal on Thursday presided over a high-level meeting in Central Police Office (CPO). The prevailing condition of law and order and measures of police for establishing peace in Sindh province during Ramazan were discussed.

The minister instructed police officials to ensure operation against extortion mafia and forced collection of zakat and fitrana during Ramazan. He required the on-duty police officers and personnel not to leave their duty points during and after Iftar.

Sindh IGP AD Khawaja, Additional IG Karachi Mushtaq Ahmed Meher, Additional IG CTD Dr Sanaullah Abbasi and all DIGs and senior police officers attended the meeting.

The minister feared increase in crimes like robbery during Ramazan; therefore, he directed solid and concrete preventive measures in this regard. He said all DIGs and district SSPs should conduct scheduled meetings on regular basis with concerned associations, religious and political personalities and social leaders of the relevant areas and assure them of resolving their problems in upcoming holy month.

Siyal also directed to form a highways emergency police force (HEPF) for the prevention of robberies and other crimes. The HEPF should be comprised of officers and personnel of SRP, he further directed.

The IGP instructed for foolproof security and ordered to implement it with the collaboration of district police, special branch police, law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies for the protection of mosques, imam bargha, open places of namaz-e-trawih, markets and bac`at bazaars (saving markets).

AD Khawaja directed the Sindh police to take measures for the video recording of namaz-e-tarawih on districts level.
