Former prime minister Shaukat Aziz launched his book ‘From Banking to the Thorny World of Politics’ in London on Thursday.

During the launch event, the former prime minister said that he had never met General Pervaiz Musharraf before he had called to ask him to join his military government.

“Before that I was a banker which is a very boring job,” he said on a lighter note.

The book is co-authored by Sunday Times journalist Anna Mikhailova.

Aziz, first finance minister and then prime minister of Pakistan, in his book gives an inside account of what it is like to hold office in one of the most challenging parts of the world and at the heart of the global War on Terror.

The book contains Aziz’s dealing with global players of the world including Donald Rumsfeld, General James Jones and Tony Blair.

From Banking to the Thorny World of Politics analyses Islamabad’s relationship with Washington, its dealings with Afghanistan, Benazir Bhutto’s comeback, – and what Pakistan knew about Osama Bin Laden.
