Accountability court extends Mushtaq Raisani’s remand

An accountability court in Quetta has handed over ex-Balochistan Finance Secretary Mushtaq Raisani and Accountant Khaliqabad Municipal Committee Nadeem Iqbal to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on another 14-day remand in the mega corruption case on Thursday (today).

As accountability Court Judge Abdul Majeed Nasir resumed the case hearing, NAB Balochistan requested to extend the remand of the accused by another 14 days.

Meanwhile, Mushtaq Raisani complained that he is not being provided medical facilities by NAB whereas his family members are also facing difficulties in meeting with him.

On this, the court directed NAB to allow Raisani’s wife, daughters, and brother to meet him whenever they want.

Later, the court extended Rasani’s remand for another 14 days and adjourned the case hearing till June 15.

Mushtaq Raisani was arrested from his office at Civil Secretariat after NAB officials raided his residence and recovered cash amounting to Rs 730 million and jewellery worth nearly Rs 40 million.

NAB officials confirmed the cash was found from a locker and 14 bags stuffed with local and foreign currencies.

Raisani, an Influential Bureaucrat in Balochistan, has served as Secretary Finance for the last few years. He served in the same position during the PPP government’s term.
