After its success on the big screen, Harry Potter is all set to move to a London stage.
Pictures of the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child that were released recently, show a grown up Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley with their child Albus Severus Potter.
Last year, the play which will begin on July 30 became a global topic of discussion as creators revealed that an African American actress would be essaying the role of Hermoine Granger.
Actor Jamie Parker will play Harry Potter, Poppy Miller will play Ginny Weasley while Sam Clemmet will play Harry’s second child. These are also the first photos that revealed Jamie Paker with the famous Harry Potter scar.
When asked about Jamie’s character transformation, J.K Rowling said, “”He simply is Harry now. There’s a kind of relief in watching him, he gets it so right,” reported the worldwide source of Harry Potter information, Pottermore.
Parker said, “It’s a unique gig in the sense that you have seven volumes of backstory that you get to bring on with you. And we were all very keen to make sure that the first time you see Harry it just feels right.”
About Sam Clemmett’s casting, Rowling did not reveal much in the fear that it would end up being a spoiler to the story but she was of the opinion that the casting for Albus’ character could not have been better.
Poppy Miller was thrilled with her new look as Ginny Potter (Weasley). “So far I’ve had a fabulous haircut and, as this is Ginny’s hair, it’s obviously red and quite sleek,” Poppy explained. “I also get to wear a gorgeous, hand-knitted jumper. I think of it as a really tasteful Pygmy Puff.”
In the photos, Albus can be seen wearing Hogwarts robe but his house hasn’t been revealed. At the end of the seventh Harry Potter book, Albus confided in Harry, telling him he was scared that he’d be put in Slytherin.
“We are very excited about sharing the play with everyone who is coming,” Poppy said. “All of us are seeing things every day, what other people are doing for the first time on stage, that’s making us squeal with excitement. So, bring it on!”
