Scales to be installed at highways to check overloading

The Punjab government while taking notice of dilapidated roads and highways ramshackled by vehicles loaded beyond capacity has decided to install weighing scales at 20 different highways of Rawalpindi.

Sources said that roads and highways in Rawalpindi have been subjected to a massive misuse by overloaded trucks and other heavy vehicles.

The sources further said that vehicles will be weighed, and goods beyond the prescribed weight will be offloaded and confiscated. Such vehicles will also be fined amounting to Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000.
