In order to ensure law and order during the holy month of Ramazan in Karachi, police have decided to prepare a list of more than 400 suspects placed under the fourth schedule of Anti-terrorism Act, 1997.
According to sources, action will also be taken against suspects who failed to appear in courts. The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have expressed concern that these suspects may plan extortion collection and target killings during the month of Ramazan.
Suspects belonging to political and religious parties and Lyari gang war are also included in the list. Suspects listed in fourth schedule were detained by Rangers and police during different raids in the metropolis.
The fourth schedule lists all the known suspects belonging to banned militant or sectarian organisations, who by their disposition could pose a threat to public peace and security. Such suspects will be required to submit an affidavit to the government that they will no more be associated with any such organisation in future or engage in any criminal activity.
