The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday has ordered the Federal Board of Education and Secondary Education (FBISE) to lift FA’s sociology book from market.

The order was given over the allegation that the publication has controversial material about the Baloch nation.

IHC Justice Athar Minallah conducted the hearing of the case.

Yasir Chaudhry appeared before the court as the counsel of petitioner Jehangir Aslam while Ali Asghar Malik appeared before the court on behalf of FBISE.

The petitioner said that the Baloch nation was called uncivilised in the book. Vulgar language has been used about Baloch nation on page 112 of the book which has offended the prestige of the Baloch nation, he said. He said that the book should be discharged from the syllabus of the educational board and its sale and purchase should be banned completely.

Malik said that the controversial portions of the book have been removed.

Later, the court ordered the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) secretary to lift the controversial book and report within two weeks.

In the petition, chairman Higher Education Commission, Ministry of CAAD, chief commissioner and chairman FBISE have been made parties.
