The bridge linking Bhara Kahu to Bari Imam is in dilapidated condition due to the lukewarm response of the authorities concerned and the residents have demanded its repair at the earliest.
The bridge is in a dangerous condition as the safety pillars on either side are broken and big cracks can be noticed.
However, despite many complaints, the authorities concerned have yet to take an action to repair it, the residents of the locality complained.
A resident, Muhammad Faheem told the news agency that the bridge was a facility for pedestrians and motorists to cross over a water pipeline, but later it was turned into a road, as it was the shortest route to reach Islamabad.
However, at present, he said that there are fears that it could collapse any moment.
“I am well aware of the fact that it is risky to cross, but I am using it nonetheless, because it is the shortest route to reach Islamabad,” said Adnan, a taxi driver.
However, when contacted, a CDA official said: “The authority is well aware of the dilapidated condition of the bridge. People of the area will soon hear good news about its reconstruction”.
