Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Tuesday (today) has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chairman Tahir-ul-Qadri for continuous absence in the hearing of the case pertaining to attack on Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Asmatullah Junejo.
The hearing was conducted by Justice Sohail Ikram during which, ATC has directed the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Idrees Rathore to implement the court’s order as early as possible.
According to the report, leaders of anti-government protests in Islamabad; Imran Khan and Tahir-ul-Qadri were declared absconders in a case pertaining to the attack on SSP Junejo on September 1, 2014.
Junejo was attacked by stick-wielding PTI and PAT protestors during the storming of Pakistan Television (PTV) Headquarters and the precincts of the Parliament.
A case was filed against the attackers with the Secretariat Police.
